Tuesday November 9, 2010
Earlybird fee: Tuesday November 2, 2010
7:30 pm – 9:30 pm

At the Toronto Grace, near Yonge & Bloor, Toronto

Do you sometimes feel frustrated that others don’t seem to really hear and understand you in the way that you would like? One of the biggest barriers to others hearing us is their need to first feel heard by us! Tonight, learn how to listen and to reflect back three key elements of what others are trying to communicate -- even what is unsaid -- so that they can feel deeply heard and understood. In the process, learn what to focus on when you want to be heard, making it easy for others to understand you. Create the space in others to really hear you - AND lay the foundation for peaceful solutions to challenging situations and conflict.

Glenda Mattinson, M.A.Sc (Organizational Psychology), is one of only two Toronto-area Certified NVC Trainers (Dr. Marshall Rosenberg’s international Center for Nonviolent Communication - www.cnvc.org), and a Certified Life Coach (CPCC). In her years of experience as manager, consultant, trainer and coach in both for-profit and not-for-profit organizations, Glenda has supported individuals and work teams in finding personal meaning, satisfaction, and organizational effectiveness as they encounter challenges. We all aspire to bring more of our spirit and ourselves into work; to work with more passion and purpose. Yet something often seems to block us, from within or from others. Discover how the ego shows up and how to deal with it, in yourself and others. Learn how to recognize and align with Spirit, so you can bring more of your true self into what you do. And join us for this day-long exploration in how to practically apply "spirit at work."

MINDFULNESS:
How to Improve
Almost Everything at Work
by Doing Almost Nothing

with
Lou Carcasole, MBA, M.Ed

Wednesday March 30, 2011
(Earlybird fee: Wednesday March 23, 2011)
7:30 pm – 9:30 pm

At the Toronto Grace, near Yonge & Bloor, Toronto

Mindfulness. You've probably read about it in many articles dealing with how to deal with stress at work. You may know it as a form of personal prayer, of intimacy with the Divine. Mindfulness is a practice for anywhere, anytime. Learn tonight in a clear and simple way what Mindfulness is, how and why it works, and how it will bring together your head-heart-body-spirit. Our lives are like a tree composed of many branches. We fuss over the health of this or that branch, forgetting that if we can only strengthen the roots of the tree, every branch, twig, and leaf will benefit. Mindfulness works at the deepest levels of our mind/body process - the very root or core of our being. As you cultivate the skills of Mindfulness, every aspect of your life improves, leading you to a greater sense of balance, integration, and well-being -- stress will never be the same!

Lou Carcasole, MBA, M.Ed., (www.RadicalGrowth.com) has been an engineer, business consultant, Organization Development specialist, home builder, and entrepreneur. A Mindfulness practitioner for more than twenty years, he has been teaching Mindfulness courses for more than half that time in workplaces as well as in both private and group practice. Reach Lou at lou.car@sympatico.ca.

Finding Vocation:
Clarity + Courage = Confidence

with
Rev. Dr. Tim Elliott

Saturday, April 9 2011
(Earlybird fee: Monday April 4, 2011)
10:00 am – 4:30 pm

At the Toronto Grace, near Yonge & Bloor, Toronto

Most people spend more time and energy planning a vacation than they do considering their vocation. To find your vocation for this stage of your life's journey and move forward with confidence, both clarity and courage are necessary. Especially in challenging times. This program gives you that important time for personal self-reflection, sharing with a partner, and group discussion, all within the context of the discernment model, Clarity and Courage. Come with your musings about your career restlessness, your retirement, your job loss, or other major life changes. You may be led to a new role in your organization, a renewed perspective on your profession, a reason to stay in or to leave your current position, an integrated view of volunteer and paid work, a more productive direction for your job search or retirement plans, or something entirely different. Leave with a readiness for change or action, be it internal or external. And enjoy the live piano music that will help us on the journey.

Tim Elliott, DMin, ( www.TimElliott.ca) is a vocation & leadership coach, ministry development consultant, keynote speaker, Anglican priest, and professional musician. He is the author of Clarity and Courage: Life as an Improvised Journey and has recorded three solo piano albums. Tim travels and speaks about jazz and vocation using the piano to highlight his presentations. Reach Tim at Tim@TimElliott.ca.
